Sabeena Karnik is a designer from Mumbi that combines typography and sculpture to create unique advertisements, posters, logos, book covers and more. Karnik creates 3-D paper sculptures out of paper passed on calligraphic typography. Her designs often use bold colors and energetic lines while the paper creates dramatic depth.
On her online portfolio, you can see some of her
process. She draws her designs on paper, then traces over the lines with thin
strips of paper. I’m drawn to Karnik’s work because designers frequently stick
to 2 dimensional designs when it comes to print pieces; however, this designer
creates 3 dimensional designs that are used as 2 dimensional outputs.
